Therapy FAQs

  • It’s a safe, supportive space to be fully yourself.

Therapy with me is warm, honest, and focused on real healing. We’ll work at your pace, explore what’s coming up for you, and use tools that help you move forward—not just talk in circles.

  • If you’re even asking the question, it might be worth exploring.

You don’t have to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. If you feel stuck, overwhelmed, burnt out, or like your emotions are running the show, therapy can help you understand and shift those patterns.

  • The consult is free, with no pressure.

We’ll talk for 30 minutes about what you’re looking for, what I offer, and whether it feels like a good fit. You’re never expected to commit on the spot. This is just a chance to connect!

  • Trust your gut—and ask questions.

If you’re looking for someone warm, affirming, and real (who also happens to be deeply trained in trauma work), we might be a good fit. The consultation call is a great time to feel that out.

  • Most clients meet weekly for 53–60 minute sessions.

Weekly sessions give us consistency and momentum. If you ever need more or less support, we’ll talk through what makes sense for your goals and capacity.

  • Some clients come for a few months; others stay for a year or more. If your trauma is complex or long-term, we’ll move intentionally and check in regularly on your progress.

  • Whatever’s most relevant to your healing.

That might include past trauma, current stressors, relationship dynamics, self-worth, boundaries, anxiety, or anything else showing up in your life. You lead the way, and I guide the process.

  • Sessions are $150, with sliding scale options available.

I accept several insurance plans (Blue Cross/Anthem, Aetna, Cigna, Optum/United, Medicare) and can provide superbills. Unfortunately, I cannot accept Athem HMOs. We’ll talk about payment in your consultation, so there are no surprises.

  • Yes—except in rare, legally required situations.

Your privacy is protected by law. The only exceptions are if someone is in immediate danger, there’s abuse of a vulnerable person, or a court requires disclosure.

  • No—I work with adults of all genders and backgrounds!

Though my practice is designed with women-identifying and/or queer clients in mind, I am available to all types individuals. This includes those who practice alternative lifestyles like polyamory, kink, sex work, etc.

  • EMDR is a trauma therapy that helps your brain process what’s stuck—without reliving it.

It uses bilateral stimulation (like eye movements or audio tones) to help you reprocess painful experiences so they lose their emotional charge. You stay in control the whole time—and you don’t have to share every detail of the memory.

  • I lead with EMDR, but integrate other evidence-based tools.

Depending on your needs, we may also use CBT, ACT, DBT-informed skills, art therapy, or solution-focused strategies. I work with you to create a path that feels both effective and sustainable.
